Remembering a Journey of Courage and Solidarity

Remembering a Journey of Courage and Solidarity

Some newspaper clippings become more than memories—they become a record of a movement.

I am deeply moved to see this old Times City report recalling the courageous struggle against child labour in the Bhadohi–Mirzapur carpet belt, and the work we undertook alongside Kailash Satyarthi and other colleagues.

The struggle was never only about rescuing children. It was about confronting systems of exploitation, standing with workers and communities, challenging bonded labour, and creating a future where every child can live with dignity, freedom and education.

The article recalls the rescue of 23 children and the risks faced during those operations. It also reminds us of the collective efforts of many activists and organisations who worked together against child labour and exploitation.

For me, these photographs and this newspaper clipping are a reminder that human rights work is built through courage, solidarity and persistent action.

The journey continues.

For every child. For dignity. For freedom. For justice.
